About Chard Horizons.

We are a friendly, family-run day service supporting adults with learning difficulties and additional needs through calm routines, meaningful activities, confidence-building, and real community connection.

Why we exist

Created because people needed somewhere to belong.

Chard Horizons was created after a local centre sadly closed during the COVID pandemic. For many adults and families, this meant losing an important routine, a familiar space, and a place where people could feel part of something.

Our aim was to fill that gap with something warm, simple, and genuinely useful — a place where people could enjoy their day, build friendships, develop skills, and feel included again.

Family-run

Chard Horizons was created by two brothers and a sister-in-law who care deeply about meaningful support.

Somerset roots

The idea grew from an existing learning business already supporting adults in Somerset.

Opened in 2021

We opened in Chard after a local centre closed during the COVID pandemic, leaving a real gap.

A day with us

Calm structure, meaningful moments.

Every day is designed to feel welcoming and understandable. We focus on routine, confidence, enjoyment, and giving each person space to take part in a way that works for them.

A calm welcome

People are greeted by familiar faces, clear routines, and a friendly start to the day.

Activities with purpose

Creative sessions, games, practical tasks, social time, and confidence-building activities.

Friendship and routine

Our days support conversation, connection, structure, and a sense of belonging.

Outings and local life

Where suitable, we enjoy supported trips, local visits, and community-based experiences.

Who we support

Support for adults who benefit from kindness, routine and encouragement.

We work with people and families to understand what support may be helpful. The best way to know whether Chard Horizons is the right fit is to get in touch and talk with us.
